We are delighted to have guest speakers from Tsleil-Waututh Nation’s Ćećǝwǝt Lelǝm “Helping House” and Vancouver Coastal Health’s North Shore Palliative Care Program join us in our next Indigenous Health Round. In this session, speakers will discuss how to recognize and overcome barriers to palliative care for Indigenous People, what decolonizing palliative care means and the role of traditional values in providing culturally safe palliative care. Learnings from the Indigenous Palliative Care Project, a recent winner of a BC Quality Award: Coping with Transitions from Life, will also be shared. Healthcare professionals from across all disciplines in health are welcome to join us in this session, to learn valuable approaches and insights which could be applicable in other settings.
This event is organized by VCH Indigenous Health and UBC iCON (Department of Emergency Medicine), and supported by the B.C. Ministry of Health Patients as Partners Initiative and the Vancouver Physician Staff Association.
