Job Summary:

This position is under the administrative supervision of the Manager, Program Administration & Technology and is functionally supervised by Evaluation Analysts and Project Coordinators as well as senior management on a project basis or as designated. The incumbent interacts with research team members, faculty, project managers, and other personnel associated with specific projects. The incumbent may interact with community organizations, health professionals, clinical groups, patients and community members, government representatives, and other stakeholder groups.

Work Performed

  • Assists in planning multicultural community, as well as healthcare professional, education events, including consultation on strategic programming, virtual and in-person event logistics planning, partnership development, community outreach, liaising with speakers and quality improvement evaluation.
  • Assists with iCON related evaluation and research activities.
  • Assists with data collection by co-facilitating focus groups, conducting interviews and administering surveys.
  • Assists senior level staff with administering forms or questionnaires, data preparation, collection, entry, and analysis.
  • Supports the preparation of reports, publications, needs assessments and presentations.
  • Conducts literature searches, as well as reviews and assists with the synthesis of literature.
  • Assists in the development of funding proposal by investigating applicable funding opportunities, searching and compiling submission criteria, completing funding application forms and documents, drafting components of letters of intent, and drafting full proposals.
  • Assists with evidence based and community informed resource development (culturally tailored presentations, infographics, booklets, toolkits, website content, etc.), coordinating integration of input and feedback with diverse project partners.
  • Supports coordination of programming, including liaising and with diverse project partners, connecting with and building relationships with community partners, participating in outreach, organizing and documenting meetings, and communicating with diverse project partners.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Undergraduate degree in an area of social science, health science, communication, or public health with research experience preferred.

Experience: Knowledge and understanding of basic social science research methods. Experiences with BC health professional organizations, Indigenous health, community development, cross-cultural projects, and liaising and engaging with external organizations are assets. Panjabi, Cantonese and/or Mandarin language skills are an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with some grant writing experience and experience working in a not-for-profit environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively use computer software, such as MS Office, data analysis software, familiarity with online literature search tools.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to show initiative and judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to occasionally work on weekends or outside of regular work hours for community engagement activities (e.g., conducting focus group, implementing educational health events).

Updated Public Health Measures – Medical Masks Wearing Requirement Effective Oct 3, 2023

On Thursday, September 28, the Government of B.C. announced updated public health measures in health-care facilities to protect patients, residents in long-term care facilities, health-care workers and people during respiratory illness season.

To increase protections in health-care facilities in B.C., medical mask wearing will be required by all health-care workers, volunteers, contractors and visitors in patient care areas (including UBC faculty, staff and learners who operate in the mentioned areas) starting October 3.
